    ACG Position Statement

Support for International Scientific Cooperation and Educational Exchange

The American College of Gastroenterology is a professional society comprising physicians and other health care providers committed to the advancement of the field of gastroenterology and the care of patients with digestive diseases. As an organization of U.S. and international physicians, the College stands committed to full and open participation in the sharing, presenting and enhancing of the clinical, investigative and educational aspects of gastroenterology by enabling physicians from around the world to collaborate to improve patient care and global health. Through a wide variety of educational programs as well as programs such as our International Training Grants, the College seeks to promote scientific cooperation and educational exchange among physicians and researchers of all nationalities.

The ACG is hosting this year’s World Congress of Gastroenterology in conjunction with global leaders from the World Gastroenterology Organisation. The ACG will continue to welcome and support all those with an interest in digestive health from around the world to participate in this important scientific summit.

The College opposes discrimination on the basis of religion, race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity or culture. We are deeply concerned with any action that bans or limits entry or re-entry of international medical graduates or other physicians and researchers with legal visas, and which is having negative implications for biomedical research, medical training, global health and patient care.
